Gidi Halaf, is a highly experienced Process Engineer (MSc, BSc) specialized in the development and production processes across various industries, including chemical, pharmaceutical, medical device, precise fermentation/Cultured Meat (including 2 patents regarding media recycling and large-scale perfusion with a centrifuge), wastewater treatment, coatings, and more. 

With extensive engineering knowledge and expertise, I possess the ability to design various production systems as per specific requirements. These systems include production tanks such as reactors or bioreactors, centrifuges, decanters, filtration systemsת electrodialysis units, I also excel in optimizing and validating for the system and the processes. Moreover, I bring vast experience in defining raw materials and establishing In-Process Control (IPC) measures. These measures involve conducting necessary tests during the production process to monitor and control the quality, defining critical parameters that directly impact product quality, determining significant parameters that affect process yield, and establishing operational parameters that optimize production convenience without compromising quality and yield.

With extensive engineering knowledge and expertise, I possess the ability to design various production systems as per specific requirements. These systems include production tanks such as reactors and bioreactors, sedimentation or filtration centrifuges, decanters, filtration systems such as filter press, ceramic filter, bag filter, MF/UF/NF/RO (microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis), tangential flow systems, electrodialysis units, wet grinding systems, evaporation systems, homogenization equipment, and more. I also excel in optimizing and validating production processes. This involves determining the appropriate stirring regimes and selecting the right agitator based on the medium’s characteristics (low shear, slurry, etc.), establishing the actual minimum and maximum working volumes in the tank, implementing suitable heating and cooling regimes, managing chemical reactions, overseeing crystallization processes (including dissolving, seeding, and crystallization), overseeing sedimentation processes, managing various filtration techniques and foreign body removal, supervising drying and grinding processes, conducting wet grinding of pesticides and pigments, executing a range of extractions (chemical extraction, plant material extraction) including washing and phase separation (water, oil, solvent), implementing evaporation and refining processes, finding solvent replacements, and ensuring effective cleaning of media for recycling purposes. Moreover, I bring vast experience in defining raw materials and establishing In-Process Control (IPC) measures. A main part in my experience is moving from one production system to another and make the relevant required changes (I used to work in a multipurpose production factory as a Tech Transfer Engineer).

This unique experience implemented me “hands on” experience how to adjust production systems based on observations, design relevant experiments & data which collected.

I designed: an evaporation system, production tanks for liquids & gels, filtration systems, large scale perfusion (with a centrifuge instead of hollowfiber/ ATF), a coating system, drying systems and many more.
